The following are a series of Frequently Asked Questions that we encounter during our investigations.  For each of these questions there are a number of possible answers depending on who you talk to, but we've included the answers that we feel best describe the phenomenon in question:

What is a ghost?

A ghost is the disembodied spirit of a person who was once alive.  Every one of us has a soul or spirit that contains our consciousness and personality.  This spirit survives the physical death of the body.  While most spirits move on to another plane of existence, some remain here on the physical plane of existence for a number of reasons.  Some feel they were not ready to die and have unfinished business.  Others are simply too attached to their homes, family or other material possessions and can't leave them.  And some ghosts are not aware that they have died and continue to live out their day to day lives.

What is an orb?

An orb is point of spiritual energy that is most commonly captured on film and video.  Orbs are round in shape and are usually white and transparent, although sometimes we have captured colored orbs as well.  It is Mark J's. theory that orbs are not really "orbs" at all, but pinpoints of light that appear larger and undefined due to the fact that they are usually captured just outside of most cameras focal range (please see Mark J.'s commentary on this in our Research section of our website.).

What is an EVP?

EVP's (Electronic Voice Phenomenon) are the disembodied voices of ghosts and spirits that researchers are able to capture using electronic recording equipment including analogue tape recorders, digital audio recorders, and even video cameras.  In most cases these voices are not heard at the time of the recording.  We discover them later as we are reviewing our recordings.  EVP is one of the more compelling pieces of evidence that we can obtain during an investigation.

What is ectoplasm?

Ectoplasm is a hazy mist-like object that we can capture on film and digital media.  To date no one has been able to fully analyze its composition and discover what it is made up of.  Ectoplasm is more rare to capture on film than orbs, but they are very impressive.

What is an apparition?

An apparition is when a ghost materializes and can be physically seen, either in person or on camera film and video equipment.  Apparitions are the most rare form of spiritual phenomenon to capture.

What does EMF mean?

EMF (Electro-Magnetic Frequency) is the amount of magnetic energy that can accumulate around us, both naturally and man-made.  All electrical appliances emit EMF.  During our investigations we have discovered that sometimes EMF is present during paranormal activity even when there is not electrical source in the area.  This EMF is on the very low end of the scale, usually between 2.0 -7.0 milligaus. 

Can a ghost hurt me?

In our experience ghosts are generally not harmful.  If a ghost is simply the spirit of a person who was alive with all of their personality, then it stands to reason that some ghosts are nice and some are not.  However, it's extremely rare for ghosts to physically harm the living.  In most cases ghosts simply co-exist with the living occupants of the home or business.

What should I do if my home is haunted?

There are many people just like you all across the world who live with this phenomenon.  In most cases it is harmless and people learn to live with them peacefully.  In rare cases if the ghost is disruptive some people try to have them removed by calling in either a priest to bless the property, or a spiritual person to conduct a clearing.  This can be hit-or-miss in that it isn't always successful, and a majority of people report the phenomenon returning after a short period of time.
